About Us

We’re a hard-working family that started from humble beginnings, loves small business and is excited about paving the way for the next generation.We’ve whittled down our family motto to three words – Industry, Prudence, Charity.The family has been in business for 25 years, and now holds minority and majority stakes in a portfolio of fourteen high-quality small businesses in New Zealand and the United States.We prefer to be actively engaged as a ‘sounding board,’ without direct managerial roles but with input as often as required to support our operators - it’s a model that’s worked well for more than twenty years.

Our ideal model for investment is a partnership in which we contribute equity, experience, and relationships to help our businesses thrive.We have enjoyed backing young founders or acquirers, helping them to set their own family on a trajectory of success.We also provide 'seed' or 'co-general partner' funds to independent sponsors and fund operators. Again, our theme is getting involved early to help good people to succeed.

We will consider:

  • buying businesses in NZ, Australia, or the USA, up to $2.5m in EBITDA

  • funding searchers in NZ, Australia, or the USA

  • partnering with experienced and/or ambitious operators who want to continue the legacy of a quality small business

  • independent sponsor acquisitions

  • co-investing with general partners

  • land investments, as equity partners or debt providers

We would be glad to discuss any ethical enterprise, with particular interest in:

  • trades businesses
